Bucky Barnes by artsytarts Bucky Barnes by artsytarts
I guess I should call this a comission. I did this for a friend of mine because she gave me her set of 72 copic markers. (I mean, how awesomely amazing is that?? :D) We agreed that I'd do a poster of Bucky for her in exchange. Took me long enough to finish it... ^^; Like, two years or something. Forgot about it in-between aswell... But alas, 'tis finished now and I am endlessly happy with it, and so is she which thrills me. ^^

It's a portrait of Bucky, as played by Sebastian Stan in "Captain America: The First Avenger" and in the upcoming "Captain America: The Winter Soldier"
This is the original photo: spinoff.comicbookresources.com...

Anyone who's interested in technical details:

I Sketched it on A4 with HB, B and 2B pencils, scanned it in at 600%, 180dpi (the largest size my scanner can do), enlarged it to A3, 300dpi, painted over the sketch with various photoshop brushes using a Wacom Bamboo tablet (I mulitplied the base colour with the sketch, to make the sketch part of the painting), did some colour grading, voilą. This version took me around three weeks from the final sketch to the finished painting, working on it about 1-2 hours most evenings. I guess it comes to roughly 12-16 hours of work. Trial-and-error included XD.

Might upload some kind of progress sheet for this, let's see.

Anyway, I hope you enjoy this portrait as much as I enjoyed doing it!

not bad, his eyes sort of reminds me of that painting "the thousand yard stare".

His eyes was what intrigued me the most about the original picture. He looks so calm, but at the same time absulutely full of emotion. I tried hard to capture that, although I still think I could've done better.
